‘Spirit in the Storm’ by Kathy Wallis

This is the true story of Joan Wytte, 1775 – 1813, a healer and wise woman, abused, found guilty of Assault and Battery and of being in league with the devil. She is imprisoned in Bodmin Jail, before her skeleton eventually became an exhibit in the Museum of Witchcraft, Boscastle, Cornwall.

A rare performance of the story of her life and death, written and performed by local storyteller, Kathy Wallis.  Kathy is a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh and has performed at the Gibraltar Literary Festival, for the Folk Music Society of New York and the international Peoples Music Network.

Del Reid, Chairman of the Society for Storytelling, described her performance as, “A rare calibre of intimate and evocative storytelling. Conceived and executed with careful thought.  This is a prime example of storytelling with grip!”
